Attraverso un nuovo video-teaser, la McLaren ha confermato che la nuova Grand Tourer o GT farà il suo debutto il 15 maggio. La clip mostra alcune delle principali caratteristiche estetiche della supercar inglese, tra cui le sottili luci posteriori a LED, il profilo laterale atletico e gli eleganti fari anteriori, sempre a LED.

La casa automobilistica britannica promette che il nuovo modello GT "ridefinirà le regole del segmento Grand Tourer" e introdurrà la "rinomata ingegneria McLaren" e una dinamica di guida confortevole, condita da materiali di alta qualità. In poche parole, sarà la McLaren per i viaggi a lunga distanza, non per la pista.

La dichiarazione del CEO

"È un'auto progettata per la distanza e che offre anche il comfort e lo spazio che ci si aspetta da una GT", ha dichiarato il CEO della McLaren Mike Flewitt. "Ma con un livello di agilità mai sperimentato prima in questa categoria."

Nulla è confermato al momento, ma la Grand Tourer non presenterà un'impostazione a tre posti. Un rapporto di Autocar afferma che non è possibile a causa delle normative sugli airbag negli Stati Uniti. I sedili risulterebbero infatti troppo arretrati perché un airbag possa agire sui due occupanti laterali.

McLaren Automotive will next week unveil the latest addition to its expanding family of cars – the new McLaren GT.

Positioned alongside the existing McLaren Sports Series and Super Series, the McLaren GT is poised to redefine the rules of the Grand Tourer segment, introducing renowned McLaren engineering and dynamic attributes alongside high-quality materials and exceptional comfort.

The fourth new car to be confirmed under the £1.2bn McLaren Automotive Track25 business plan and the only Grand Tourer to share DNA with the McLaren Speedtail Hyper-GT, the new McLaren GT will be unveiled online in its full superlight beauty on Wednesday May 15, at 1300 BST.
